Dr. NABI HASAN is the Librarian & Head, Central Library, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD). Prior to this, he has served as the University Librarian of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), one of India's leading multi-disciplinary institutions, whose library system has been ranked second largest in Asia and the largest in India. He has also served as Deputy Librarian in the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi during 2009-2016 and as Deputy Librarian/Assistant Librarian and a Regular Post Graduate Faculty at Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur (HP). He did his Masters in Library and Information Science from Aligarh Muslim University; Ph.D. in Library and Information Science (Scientometrics) from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar; Norman E. Borlaug Fellowship (PDF) in "Electronic Library Resources Management" from Cornell University, New York, USA, Certificate in ICT Applications in Library from IGNOU and IPR Course from WIPO, UN, Geneva. Dr. Hasan has also achieved Six Sigma White Belt Certificate from ABI, Ohio, USA, has also been given certification as "Microsoft Faculty Fellow" and recently got the WOS Certification from Clarivate Analytics.

Recently he has been conferred with one of the most reputed awards of the profession, The BONNIE HILDITCH INTERNATIONAL LIBRARIAN AWARD 2018 OF THE SPECIAL LIBRARIES ASSOCIATION, USA which was presented to him in the Annual Conference, Baltimore, Maryland, USA during June 9-13, 2018. He has also been conferred with the SLP-SLA ASIAN FELLOW AWARD 2019, presented during biennial Sixth International Conference of Asian Special Libraries (ICoASL 2019) during February 14-16, 2019, New Delhi.

He was the "FIRST BORLAUG FELLOW FROM INDIA" in Library Information Systems at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA in 2006 and was trained in "Electronic Library Resources Management" under Mary Ochs, Director, A.R. Mann Library, Cornell University. He was awarded Outstanding as a participant by the Cornell University. Dr. Hasan is also the recipient of the "VICE-CHANCELLOR APPRECIATION AWARD 2003" for Exemplary Work and Conduct and has received "APPRECIATION CERTIFICATE" from the University at Palampur for Extra-ordinary Works and Services in 2009. He has received "APPRECIATION FROM THE CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF GOVERNORS, IIT DELHI" in 2012, from DIRECTOR IN 2019 and APPRECIATIONS FROM THE VICE-CHANCELLOR and PRO-VICE CHANCELLOR OF THE ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY IN 2018, etc. He has also been conferred with the "LIFE TIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD 2015" for Extraordinary Services and Dedication towards Library Science during a National Conference held at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. He is winner of the "MOST UNFORGETTABLE LIBRARY MOMENT AWARD 2015", in a Global Online Competition by Accucoms, Netherlands. He has also received Appreciation Certificate from IEEE twice and many such Appreciations from reputed organizations.

Dr. Hasan has an experience of over 24 years' of active library services and teaching. He has to his credit 14 Books/composite Books/Compilations and has 129 papers/articles/publications in reputed journals, conferences, composite books, etc. He has written contents/modules for the ePG Pathshala Project of the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India and is on the Editorial Board of many reputed Journals/Serials of Library and Information Science. As Deputy Librarian of IIT Delhi, he was closely associated with the INDEST-AICTE Consortium and Joint Pilot Project with INFLBNET, i.e. N-LIST.

He is Member of many reputed external committees including National Steering and National Advisory Committees of E-ShodhSindu: Consortium for Higher Education Electronic Resources (eSS), Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. He is also serving as the Member of Project Approval Board (PAB) of the National Digital Library of India, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India (as nominated by Director, IIT Delhi). Dr. Hasan is the PRESIDENT ELECT 2019 OF THE SLA, ASIAN CHAPTER, ONE OF THE BIGGEST AND MOST REPUTED PROFESSIONAL ORGANIZATIONS BASED AT USA (Will be President for 2020, Immediate Past President 2021) and also Member of the SLA Public Policy Advisory Council (PPAC) and Member of 2020 SLA Annual Conference Advisory Council (ACAC). He is also currently Vice-President- Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres (IASLIC), Founder Joint Secretary of the Asian Library Association (ASIALA), Executive Committee & Editorial Board Member of Delhi Library Association and is the active member of almost all the important professional societies working in India including; SLA (USA)-Asian Chapter, ISSI (Belgium), ILA, IASLIC, IATLIS, SIS, DLA, MANLIBNET, ASIALA, AALDI, PLA, MLAI, SRFLIS, RRC, etc.

An Outstanding Content Writer, Speaker and Organizer of Events; Dr. Hasan has so far delivered 203 presentations/lectures at international and national platforms, most of these as Resource Person/Invited Speaker/Valedictory Addresses/Inaugural Addresses/Special Addresses, Keynote addresses, etc. Dr. Hasan has also organized 82 Conferences/Seminars/Workshops/Trainings, etc. at National and International level as Organizing Secretary/Convener/Key Person/Organizing Chair. He has so far handled/associated with 14 important international/national projects in different capacities including as PI/CCPI and helped in implementation of another 24.

AT IIT DELHI, APART FROM HEADING THE CENTRAL LIBRARY SYSTEM; HE IS THE PI of the Institute Project, “Strengthening of Central Library” and is Member of the Senate, Executive Committee (ECS). He has developed the Library App for Singlw Window Search and has also implemented the Institute/Faculty Profiling System in IIT Delhi (IRINS). Dr. Hasan is the Organizing Chair of the KEDL - NDLI-UNESCO International Symposium on Knowledge Engineering for Digital Library Design 2019, to be hosted by the Central Library, IIT Delhi with about 400 participants and a large number from outside India during Dec. 9-11, 2019 http://kedl2019.ndl.gov.in. As senior most Deputy Librarian of IIT Delhi Library System during 2009-2016; Dr. Hasan was the founder "COORDINATOR" of "BETWEEN THE LINES" (eNewsletter of IIT Delhi) and provided the CAS/SDI SERVICES on regular basis to the highest functionaries. He has served as INCHARGE OF SERIALS/JOURNALS DIVISION & E-RESOURCES MANAGEMENT, Coordinated the DIGITIZATION AND ACCESS MANAGEMENT Project of Ph.D. Theses and was also the OFFICER INCHARGE - STORE & PURCHASE. He alogwith his team implemented the "RFID SYSTEM IN THE IIT DELHI LIBRARY" which is still one of the most successful RFID running installation in the country. He has also enabled the access to the Extended Abstracts of Ph.D. Theses through the OPAC and facilitated DSpace platform and was instrumental in making the submission of soft copy of Ph.D. Thesis mandatory submitted to the Central Library (born digital) as well. He was the Coordinator of the important project, "DIGITALIZATION OF INSTITUTE RECORDS" of IIT Delhi. He has good experience of renovation and furnishing of the library building as evident from his significant contributions in this regard at IIT Delhi especially creation the facilities for the students and faculty at Ground floor of the Central Library, etc. Dr. Hasan, on directive from the IITD, facilitated the physical work completion of the country’s largest Cloud Computing Infrastructure. He was associated with the "INDEST-AICTE CONSORTIUM" Project and was active in Joint Pilot Project under NME-ICT (N-LIST) of the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India at IIT Delhi. He was also instrumental in designing the posters of the INDEST-AICTE Consortium and has served as the "COORDINATOR" OF THE COMPILING AND EDITING TEAM OF THE ANNUAL REPORT OF THE INDEST-AICTE CONSORTIUM" for the years; 2010, 2011 and 2012. He has served on the IIT Delhi Website Committee and was also the Member of the Committee on Faculty Affairs, Dr. Hasan received the APPRECIATION FROM THE CHAIRMAN, BOARD OF GOVERNORS, IIT DELHI, MR R.P. AGARWAL and his "NAME AND PHOTOGRAPH HAS ALSO BEEN INCLUDED IN IIT DELHI'S GOLDEN JUBILEE LIST OF AUTHORS".

He has participated in large number of international and national level events/conferences/seminars/workshops. Dr. Hasan has participated in 21 important International and National level computer based and other training programs in India and abroad. He was the winner of the "BEST PAPER PRESENTATION AWARD" at the International Conference on Knowledge Management and Resource Sharing (ICKMARS-2012) during February 28-29, 2012 at Muscat, Oman. He has received "CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION" at 3rd International Conference of Asian Special Libraries (SLA) at Manila, Philippines. His co-authored presentation delivered at National Conference on Managing of Information Resources in Digital Environment, Sept. 21, 2013, New Delhi has also won the "BEST PRESENTATION AWARD". Dr. Hasan received "APPRECIATION CERTIFICATE FROM THE IEEE" twice and the "BEST PAPER PRESENTATION AWARD" at "National Conference on e-Resource Management: Challenges and Issues", Lucknow, India on October 19, 2014.

Dr. Hasan has successfully implemented "3 WORLD BANK AIDED NATP/NAIP/ICAR PROJECTS" on Library Automation, Digitization, Institutional Repositories, Digital Library, Networking, etc. in the capacity as Executing Agency/Person/CCPI/PI. He has significantly contributed in CeRA, KrishiPrabha, eGranth, INDEST, etc. Projects in different capacities.

Earlier, he has served as the 2016-17 Director, Treasurer Elect 2018, SLA Asian Chapter and also Online Content Advisory Council (SLA Main), Secretary of Delhi Library Association during 2013-16 (DLA), Council Member of the Indian Library Association 2013-16 (ILA), Governing Body Member of Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres 2013-16 (IASLIC), Member, Ministry of Earth Sciences e-journal Consortium, Govt of India and on the Boards of SLA-Asian Chapter, AALDI and ISSI 2015 (Belgium), Standing Committee Member of the Centre for Women’s Development Studies (CWDS-ICSSR) etc. He has also represented the AMU to INFLIBNET as one of the 26 designated ILL Centres of e-SS (INFLIBNET).

Dr. Hasan has served as the permanent member of AMU Court, the highest governing body of the AMU and also of the Academic Council apart other important committees and bodies of the universality like University Website Committee, Committee to Monitor Academic Progression & University Ranking, Member of Internal Quality Assessment Cell, Innovation Council & University Incubation Centre, AQAR Committee, Plagiarism Committee, etc. Also he was over all Administrator of all the Libraries of the system including three campus libraries outside state and about 110 libraries in the campus.

He has successfully IMPLEMENTED THE ISO STANDARDS - ISO 9001/2000-2008 in the University Library, H.P. Agricultural University, Palampur (HP). He was also responsible for making H.P. Agricultural University Library as "ONE OF THE FIRST BEST RATED AUTOMATED LIBRARY" amongst the State Agricultural University libraries (SAUs) and ICAR institutes/labs. He established the Digital Library and Institutional Repository at this institute in 2003. His efforts resulted in winning the library as "BEST LIBRARY OF THE YEAR AWARD 2010" at the World Management Congress, India International Centre, New Delhi. His Biography has been included in many reference sources nationally and internationally. He has also "REVIEWED AS AN EXPERT, A NUMBER OF EXTERNAL PROJECTS AND PROPOSALS AND PREPARED THEIR FEASIBILITY REPORTS" and helped in their implementation. Besides, he has been involved in a number of additional activities like as Library System Administrator, LAN Facilitator, Web Content Manager, University Network Team Executive Member, Electoral Officer/Returning Officer, Anti Ragging Committee Member, Assistant Public Information Officer, First Appellate Authority, Chairman and Expert in various committees, Institute Representative for various examinations, etc. He has served as Program Coordinator, Rapporteur General, Chair, Co-Chair and Member of many committees of National and International level events and as Consultant/Advisor in the World Bank/NAIP Project, Executive Member in the national level professional societies, etc. He has been involved in a number of other activities of the institutes where he has served/serving.

After joining the Aligarh Muslim University as its regular University Librarian on April 1, 2016; Dr Hasan has significantly contributed for the system. This include; Creation of River Ganga Repository, Opening of New Digital Resources Centre, Opening of New Oriental Division, Opening of New Library Block, hosting of International and National level events on Academic Integrity, Plagiarism, Author Workshop, Librarians Day, Annual Library Day, Staff Recharge Program, Week long Workshop on conservation and preservation of manuscripts, independent ICT enabled facilities for girl students, rationalization of purchase procedures of the library, strengthening of collection development and improved facilities for the students and the faculty members, infrastructural development like LED lights, false sealing, Air-conditioning, improvement in facilities for the blinds, improvement in the facilities of cultural hall, release of New Library Brochure, starting of eNewsclipping Services, creation of separate budget head for E-Resources, academic and scholarly motivation of the professional staff, organizing of Exhibitions on all the important occasions, etc.

Recently he has created wonderful Library Museum for the Manuscripts/arte facts available in the Library so that anybody can see the rarities of the MA Library without any formality. His main focus was on strengthening of library resources, services and products and for improving the academic excellence for the users and bringing together of people and services of the system libraries with improved access including remote access.

He has travelled widely and has visited USA, Germany, Spain, Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Oman, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and Nepal for professional assignments, depicting his versatile personality.

His current area of interest includes Innovative Library Services, eResources Management, Digital Library and Content Management, Digitization, Data curation and Access Management, Institutional Repositories, eBooks, Crowdsourcing & Cloud Computing applications in Libraries, Scientometric and Usage studies, RFID applications, etc.
